Set Up Your Profile
Your profile is your identity on Gen Yodha. Tap your avatar → Edit Profile to fill in:
- Headline — A one-liner about who you are (e.g., "Marketing grad building in public")
- Function/Area — Your field (e.g., Marketing, Engineering, Design)
- Years of Experience — Where you are in your career (0–7)
- Location — City and country
- About — Tell people who you are beyond your resume
- Goals & Interests — What you're working toward right now
Add Your Experience
You have 3 ways to add work experience:
Fill Out Other Sections
- Education — Schools, degrees, relevant courses
- Projects — Side projects, case studies, things you've built
- Awards — Achievements, certifications, recognitions
- Languages — Languages you speak and proficiency levels
- Featured Links — Link to your portfolio site, GitHub, Medium, YouTube, etc.
Portfolio Folders
Organize your best posts into themed folders (e.g., "Marketing Insights", "Case Studies"). These showcase how you think, not just where you worked. You can also embed these folders anywhere and/or share it in your resume while applying to jobs :)

Let people know what you're available for:
Close Friends NEW
Go to Settings → Manage Close Friends to add people. When you create a post, you can choose "Close Friends" visibility so only your inner circle sees it. Great for venting, asking personal career questions, or sharing things you're not ready to make public.
Explore the Feed
Your Home feed shows posts from people you follow + everyone else. This is where you share insights, ask questions, document your journey, and engage with peers.
Creating a Post
Tap "Share something with the community..." to open the post composer:
- Text — Write up to 5,000 characters
- Images — Attach up to 5 images
- Videos — Upload MP4, WebM, or MOV files up to 50 MB NEW
- Links — Add a URL with custom button text (e.g., "View Demo")
- Tags — Categorize your post (Interview Tips, Resume Review, Career Advice, etc.) so others can filter and find it NEW
- Visibility — Choose "Everyone" or "Close Friends" NEW
- Schedule — Write now, publish later with the scheduling option
Engaging with Posts
- Comment — Engage meaningfully with others' posts. You can now reply to specific comments for threaded conversations NEW
- Save — Bookmark posts and organize them into collections like "Interview Prep" or "Resume Inspo" NEW
Filtering the Feed NEW
Use the filters at the top of the feed to narrow posts by tag/category and media type (text, images, videos) independently. Helpful when you're looking for specific content like interview experiences, resume advice, or video walkthroughs.
Discover People
The Discover page helps you find peers to connect with. Browse profiles, see what people are working on, and follow those whose journey resonates with yours.

Follow
Follow people whose content you want to see. Your follower/following counts are private — only you can see them.
Message Requests
Want to reach out to someone? Send a message request from their profile. This isn't like any other app's cold mail — write a genuine intro explaining why you want to connect.
- Recipients can accept or decline requests
- There's a daily limit on incoming requests to prevent spam
- Messages expire after 7 days if not accepted, eliminating ghosting anxiety
- React to messages with emojis — hover over any message and tap the emoji icon NEW
Coffee Chats
The Coffee Chats page helps coordinate real conversations with peers. If someone has coffee chats enabled on their profile, you can request one directly.

Engage with peers — Comment thoughtfully on others' posts. Use threaded replies to have real conversations, not drive-by reactions.
Use coffee chats — A 15-minute conversation with a peer can be more helpful than 100 cold applications. Accepted requests now flow directly into Messages.

No. Gen Yodha is a peer network first. While we have a Jobs section, the core value is connecting you with peers who can share referrals, advice, and support. Referrals are 10x more effective than cold applications — and they come from genuine relationships, which is what we help you build.
We're currently in beta. Pricing details will be shared shortly. We also plan a "Pay It Forward" system where premium members can sponsor access for underprivileged students.

Your profile is visible to all Gen Yodha users. However, your follower count, following count, and who you follow are private — only you can see them.

You have two AI-powered options for adding work experience:
Voice to Bullets: Tap the mic, talk about your role naturally, and AI converts it into polished bullet points. The more details you give, the better it can surface points for you. You can also copy/paste those into your resume!
Resume Import: Paste your resume text, and AI extracts all your roles with descriptions.
Both use free monthly AI credits that reset each month.
Close Friends lets you share posts with a select group of people. Go to Settings → Manage Close Friends to add people. When creating a post, choose "Close Friends" visibility. Only people on your list will see it. Great for sharing things you're not ready to make public.
Messages on Gen Yodha work through a request system. You send a message request from someone's profile, and they choose to accept or decline. This prevents spam and ensures conversations are mutual. You can also react to messages with emojis.
Coffee Chat requests expire after 7 days if not accepted. This eliminates the anxiety of being "left on read" — if someone doesn't respond, the request simply disappears. No hard feelings.
Each user can receive up to 50 message requests per day (max). Users can also limit this by going to Settings → Message Request Limit. This protects people from being overwhelmed and encourages you to be intentional about who you reach out to.
No. Follower counts and following lists are completely private. Only you can see your own.
A conversation thread is automatically created in your Messages tab. You can start chatting right away without needing to find each other separately.

When you save a post, you can organize it into custom collections (like "Interview Prep" or "Career Resources"). Click the small arrow next to the bookmark icon to choose or create a collection. All saves are completely private — nobody else can see what you've saved.
Yes! You can upload MP4, WebM, or MOV videos up to 50 MB when creating a post. Use the video icon in the post composer. You can also filter the feed to show only video posts.
Posts set to "Everyone" are visible to all Gen Yodha users. Posts set to "Close Friends" are only visible to people on your Close Friends list. There are no public like counts — only comments and saves are visible engagement metrics.
Gen Yodha takes privacy seriously. We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. Your journal entries are completely private. Your follower/following information is private. Your saved posts and collections are private.
